The Monokini.

Thanks to all of you for your feedback with the jumpsuit dilemma. You were all so funny and very helpful! I'd love to try it on in person to see how it really looks when you wear it. I'll have to do that the next time I go to the mall.

Anyway, as I was continuing my bathing suit search, I kept coming across this bathing suit style called the MONOKINI. Various sites including American Eagle, F21, and Victoria's Secret are selling this new style. (Actually, I'm not sure if it's a new style or trend... I've just never seen it before.)

And some of them are just plain SKANKY. (Excuse my lack of a better word.)


I guess the monokini gives you more coverage than a bikini but less coverage than a tankini or one piece. Hmmm, I think I'll have to pass. Is it just me or does the word "monokini" sound like a disease or something? What do all of you think?!

Jumpsuits anyone?

Somehow in the blink of an eye jumpsuits have come into "style." When I walked through Express the other day, the salesperson was trying their best to SELL me one. I just stared at it and didn't get it. Sure they are easy to pack on a summer getaway but I'm still on the fence about them.




One thing for sure is that they've gotta be a hassle when you try to go to the bathroom. The Express ones are made of some lightweight soft cotton and are very nicely priced. It just seems like the crotch of the jumpsuit just hangs there. What do you think? Maybe only certain body types can wear it? Or is this one purposely "slouchy?"

Stuff I'm loving...

With not much to do today, my BF and I decided to go window shopping at the mall. I strolled around various stores but didn't find anything worth buying.

I found this cute top at AE for $18. Pretty cute shirt with soft pastel colors. I'll probably go back and buy it after my shopping ban. AE has a ton of cute stuff on sale at the moment and the prices really aren't too bad.


I walked around JCrew but their sales section was pretty picked over. I managed to walk away happy that I didn't buy a single thing! I just made sure to pick up the June Catalog on the way out.

I've never owned a JCrew bathing suit so I'm not sure if it's worth it to spend that much on a bathing suit. How much is a reasonable price for a bathing suit? Do you think the quality of the suits is better at JCrew than at other stores? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Jon & Kate plus 8: Who watches and what do you think?!

So I've been a huge fan of this show for quite sometime and this weekend TLC had a huge marathon leading up to the season premiere on Monday night.



Anywho, there has been a TON of controversy around Jon sneaking around and "cheating." If you have been to the grocery lately, ALLLL the tabloids have been focused on this ordeal.

I'm not sure if any of you watch the show but for the most part it's oooookay. The kids are cute and it's fun to take a look into their lives. 8 kids is like WOW. But also, if you DO watch the show you've seen just how MEAN Kate is. She constantly bashes Jon and is pretty rude IMO.

What is you opinion on the situation?! Jon supposedly got caught with a 23 year old while Kate was out of town and supposedly they have an "it's okay to cheat" agreement. Do any of you believe what's in the magazines?

I just finished reading US Magazine's article on Kate and it really paints her to be a huge monster. (Doing the show just for the money, firing staff for petty reasons, threatening neighbors...) Personally, I wouldn't doubt it. Sorry that link was just a snippet. There are even NEW rumors that she is "seeing" her bodyguard.

I seriously would love to hear what you all think of the show and Kate. IMO, I feel like Jon is just staying with her for the kids. Is it wrong to get a divorce when you have 8 kids even when things just aren't working out and you don't want to be together anymore? I'm not married and don't have kids so I don't actually know what it's like to be in those shoes. None of my friends watch this show so they don't get what I'm talking about. But if you do watch, let me know what you think!

Hehe. Not too exciting since they are just COTTON PANTIES! I guess I technically broke my shopping ban but it's okay because I still haven't bought any JCrew. But just an FYI Victoria's Secret is having a nice promo in-store AND online for 10 cotton panties (any style) for $25! That's only $2.50 a panty!! Pretty good deal IMO. Solids, patterns, any style... where can you go wrong?!

Girl's Night Out!

Friday night was such a blast! I really haven't ventured out into the city the entire school year because school was my #1 priority. I never got to hang out at a bar or even take the train. But finally on Friday, I DID! Riding the "T" (train/rail/subway) was actually quite fun. It was an adventure since I really didn't know what to do or which train to take. Luckily one of my girl friends led the way. We had a great time at this place called "Kings." It's one of those bowling alley/bar/lounge types of places. The food was good and the company was great!

I had a strawberry margarita and their "bowl" drink. Mmmm.



Don't worry, we split that big drink 3 ways. :)
In the end we didn't actually bowl. But that was fine by me. Prices were pretty steep anyway.

Hmm 7 things that make me awe-summmmm?

1. I have an infectious smile and "bright" aura according to my friends. I always try to be happy because I've found that people look much better smiling than frowning.

2. I live with my best friend/ bf of 3 years and we're making it work!!! Some people debate about living with your sig other before getting married but i highly recommend it. The first couple of months were quite rocky and now i can't imagine living with anyone else :)

3. I changed career paths and moved across the country to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor. Fingers crossed that I will succeed.

4. I can't whistle. At 23 years of age I still can't whistle for the life of me but I've somehow managed to create a sound similar to whistling!!! It's really cool!!!

5. I ALWAYS brush my teeth in the morning before speaking a word to anyone. Thank goodness!

6. I'm a shopaholic that has finally NOT bought a single piece of clothing for 18 days!!!! WOOP WOOP shopping ban!!!

7. I'm the youngest of 3 and sometimes I feel like I'm the glue that keeps my family at peace with one another. I'm a mommy's girl, I'm my sister's best friend, I'm my brother's kid sister, and I'm finally speaking with my dad once again. It's tough to keep a family together but in the end, that's all that really matters! Right?!

OOTD! School's out! TIME TO PLAY!!!

WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO! My summer has officially started!!! My chem final was super hard!! Don't you hate when you study and study and the stuff that you focused on wasn't even on the test?! AHH! But that's all in the past now. I'm sure I did okay!

I totally forgot that I had this sweater!! I found it laying around with all of my cardigans and decided to wear it today since it was cold and gloomy. The sweater itself is super comfy and runs TTS. I'm wearing an XS and the Vneck dips down a bit low but other than that it's fitted. Either way, it's a great sweater. I'm also wearing the my Dainty Sparkle Necklace. It's cute, lightweight, and sparkly. Now that it is on sale, I highly recommend you ladies to get one!!! It looks cute layered with my pillow necklace.

I'm having a girls night with a few of my classmates tomorrow evening and I'm super excited!!! This whole school year has been so stressful and rough. I'm glad that I finally get to go out and play in the city! :)

Physics is finally out of the way and now all I have to do is focus on Chemistry.
I can't believe how mentally and physically drained I felt after my final. My brain was fried and my body was ready to give out! AHhhhh I'm just glad it's over!

In other news, I finally bought my flight home! I'm so happy to be going back to California for the summer! I really wasn't sure how long I wanted to stay so I just got a one way flight... I always joke around with my mom that I'll end up staying home because I hate school. (Well I hate taking tests...) I'm already dreading coming back for fall semester. Bah! Biology and Organic Chemistry... whoomp whoomp! Since I did splurge and buy my flight I'm probably going to have to pass on those lovely item's I've been wanting.

And after seeing so many talented bloggers make their own jewlery, I've decided to give it a whirl! Special thanks to Icsmom, for really inspiring me and pointing me in the right direction! I'm definitely going to take up jewelry making as a hobby this summer and I'm sooooooo totally excited! Now I just have to go and buy everything :) If you guys haven't checked out her blog, here it is. She has made such PRETTY pieces of jewelry! Check them out!

Ahhhhhh if being stressed about school wasn't enough, not shopping is killing me as well! I keep taking periodic study breaks to glance through the JCrew website and I keep finding more and more things that I want.

On another note, my white rosette tee came in! It's super duper cute and perfect this time around. I'll probably wear it sometime this week since the weather is getting better!

OOOH and on another note: Did anyone watch CELEBRITY APPRENTICE?!?!! I've been following that show the entire season! I'm so glad Joan won!!! Annie Duke was super evil!!! Anyone watch it????? She sooo thought that Donald was going to say "you're hired" but he soooo said "YOU'RE FIRED!" That second was so priceless when she [Annie] was smiling cuz she thought she won!!! LOL

My last day of class! And my flower earrings!

Today was FINALLY my last day of Chemistry. It's amazing how much I learned this year and as happy as I am that it is over, I'M DREADING MY 3 hour final next week. AHHHHHHH.

Anyway, today was special because we got to make liquid nitrogen ice cream. You can see the liquid nitrogen fog creeping around the counter top.



Needless to say, I didn't eat it. Lol, I don't think you would either! :)

So on to my lovely new EARRINGS! The Floral Sparkle Earrings



Here is what they look like on:



First off, I was pretty surprised how small they actually are IRL. Online they make them out to be a lot bigger but they're not really big at all. Maybe half an inch... It's not a bad thing because you probably wouldn't want huge flowers weighing down your ears anyway, right? The good thing is that they are big enough to be seen and make an "impact" on your outfit.

These earrings can totally be dressed up or down. I wore them today with jeans and a tee and thought they looked very nice. The flowers are also very pretty and almost sophisticated looking... these definitely aren't your daughter's flower earrings! :)

The flowers are connected to posts that have those weird backings that look like a plastic circle with a closure. IMO, those are kinda bothersome so I just switched my backs to the more secure "butterfly?" backings. (You know, the usual ones that come on studs.) The plastic ones felt a bit loose and I wanted something tighter because I always fear that I might lose an earring. Sucks when that happens!

The little crystals are super cute and not tooooooo bling bling to make you feel like you're trying hard. Overall I'd give these earrings 4 stars out of 5. They're not cheapy looking either. I really love them and they're a great price. I highly recommend them if you want something pretty for your ears! :)

On another note, I was online this morning and I happened to see that LOVELY twisted crystal necklace pop back up with the update and guess what... I DIDN'T BUY IT!!! *Pats self on back*
This shopping ban is pretty killer but I still have 23 more days to go! Wish me luck!

OOTD Pecan Michelle makes her debut :)

I've been wanting to wear my Glazed Pecan Michelle cardigan for a while and today I finally made it happen. The brown is very boring so I decided to liven it up by pairing it with Cantaloupe. (A prettier way to say ORANGE!)

OOTD, Rosette tee update, and a few newbies.

This is what I wore today.


I was inspired by this JCrew "fall preview" look.



I couldn't wear khaki's since it was all rainy outside. (Didn't want them to get all dirty.) And I wasn't about to sport some diagonal chains so I just wore a simple necklace. If you look close enough you can see that I'm wearing the Serengeti belt.

Now on to my Rosette tee...
My PS emailed me this afternoon and expressed his sincerest apologies about the hole. He notified the store about what they did and went on ahead to order me another shirt. This time around he made sure to speak directly to a manager and MAKE SURE that my shirt was hole-free! He PROMISED me that this one is "PERFECT" and is already on it's way back to me.

So the funny thing about this top was that my PS had originally told me it was $29.99 (since the shell and natural were online) and allowed my red card to be used on it as well. But as it turns out, the Tee is actually $48 so with the 25% off i paid $36. But since my PS is such a SUPER nice guy, he's only charging me $29.99, 25% off that, AND free shipping.

This guy totally makes my day.

And finally onto my new acquisitions.

Since today is OFFICIALLY the 1st day of my shopping ban, I made sure NOT to be awake for the website update. I slept in until 10ish and even made breakfast for me and my sweetie. It actually felt good just laying around and not hovering around my computer waiting for the update. So yay me!

I paid JCrew a visit this evening to return my sorbet sweater and the rosette tee and guess what, I DIDN'T BUY ANYTHING! WOOP WOOP! I seriously patted myself on the back as I left the store. God knows what I would have bought with that gift card!!!

I figure I'll just save it for the end of the month.

Anywho, I went to Express to use my Express cash and even though I reeeeally didn't need anything, I managed to pick up a couple basic tee's and a cool belt. It was a steal so no biggie. This was the one exception for my shopping ban so from now you won't see me buying anything else. I PROMISE!

Here's an outfit I put together with my new tee and belt. I'm also wearing my Keylime Portland and my Seaside shorts w/o the tie belt.



It's a fun, cute and summer ready outfit IMO.

I'm staying strong! No more shopping! As I was folding my clothes I finally realized that I have a ton of clothes!!! One month of NOT shopping won't kill me.
